Are they innovative?

When we place someone with them do they stay?
This is incredibly important to us. Helping our clients make the right hire is a long process. This starts with the initial headhunt, then on to the short list, the interview stages and then final (usually most challenging) end stage of offer. We need to make sure the money is right, the benefits are right, the hours are right, even the start date is right. We can spend hours negotiating on these points to make sure the final package works for everyone. A client who makes the right hire for their business and who delivers on everything they say they will at interview stage, is the kind of Recruitment Agency or Executive Search firm we want to work with.
Do they ‘partner’ with us throughout the process?
We need constant feedback from the client as well as from the candidate throughout the interview process. Without this we cannot do our job properly. We need our clients to trust that we know what needs to be done to make the deal happen. We need our clients interacting with us frequently to update us during the hire. It is crucial that we have all the information to hand. A minor missed detail can sometimes mean a critical hire is not made. If the client appreciates the benefit of partnering with us, they will understand the same benefit of partnering with you too.
Do we trust them?
Can we talk openly and freely about candidates trusting that they will not approach those candidates 6 months later when they ‘think’ we have forgotten about them. The best clients are the ones who understand our challenges, who trust that this is often about the long game, and that at the end of the day we are working in the best interests of everyone. If we can trust our client implicitly then our candidate should be confident to do so too.
Do they pay our fees, and on time?
This tells us a huge amount about a firm’s morals, integrity and ‘ability’ to pay! I believe that the clients who are grateful to us for the work we do on their behalf, are probably experiencing the same gratitude from their own clients. I know I’d like to work for a business that has a grateful client base that rewards them for their efforts, rather than an Agency or Search firm who are in constant battle with its clients. If we are treated well, and fairly, we know this means that their clients are also being dealt with in the same way.
